Biography:

After finishing my Master’s in Chemical Biology at the Technical University Dortmund, I decided to move to the Netherlands and started my doctorate at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam with Prof. Dr. Tom Grossmann. My work focused on the design and synthesis of cyclic peptides with enhanced properties for pharmaceutical applications. Next to peptide chemistry I could pick up techniques and methodologies in protein biochemistry as well as protein crystallization. After my graduation, I got the chance to join Ilja’s group where I am currently developing novel antimicrobial peptides to target biofilm formation as well as peptides with unique ice-binding properties.
